If you’re looking for easy, free fun this August, Calgary has tons of options for outdoor play, water fun, and drop-in programs that don’t cost a thing. Here’s a roundup of purely kid-focused, no-ticket-needed activities you can enjoy all month long.


1. Park Play YYC Pop-Ups

Location: Rotating parks city-wide

Cost: Free

Details:

Free mobile play stations hosted by the City of Calgary with loose parts, sports gear, and creative activities. Great for kids of all ages—just show up and play.


2. Splash Pads & Wading Pools

Location: Riley Park, South Glenmore Park, Rotary Park, Valleyview, and more

Cost: Free

Details:

Cool off at one of the city’s many splash pads and shallow pools. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Bring towels, water shoes, and extra clothes.


3. Calgary Public Library Summer Reading Club
